Stop the Madness

I being a 54 year old African American woman who recently graduated from college with honors, receiving a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and I am continuing my education to achieve a Master Degree in International Business, I am outraged over Don Imus and his thoughtless remarks! I am equally outraged over the fact that Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton are always conveniently present to quickly call foul ball when it comes to black and white issues! If Jessie and Al really want to be vocal about filth and smut in the media then why don't they take a stand against the dirty mouthed rappers, the record companies and talent agents who produce their filth and the movie and television industry that exploit women constantly, especially African American women! It is time for everyone to take a stand and stop being hypocrites! Dirty rap lyrics, women who sadly exploit themselves on their music videos, television shows such as Flava Flave, Ms New York, and you name it must be eliminated!

We must get rid of shows like IMUS and all programming and media that exploit, degrade, and devalue women, all women. I wonder how many of the young ladies on the basketball team have in their possession the many rap cd's that exploit women, (African American Women). We are seeing a decline in American culture and the African American family is suffering the most! If Jesse and Al really want to do something about the decline in our culture and moral values then they can start by "stop looking for a bigot and racist in every corner and speak out against the evils that are taking place in the African American family, in our communities and yes even in some of our churches! Imus would not feel that he had the liberty to make such a foolish remark if the rappers, comedians and entertainers had not given him that liberty! Down with IMUS and down with all those who spread messages of filth and call it free speech and art!

It is time that African American people stop relying on so called leaders to speak and react for them and we take a stand for ourselves. We must take control of our own destiny and take responsibility for cleaning up the moral decay that we face as a people. We must denounce those so called leaders who are only out for political gain at our expense! Then and only then will Imus and other so called shock jocks think twice before they display their ignorance.
